Process Improvement in Healthcare

12 September 2012; 14:00 – 18:00

A half-day ENBIS-12 course run by Ronald J.M.M. Does (University of Amsterdam), Gerard C. Niemeijer (Martini Hospital, Groningen) and Albert Trip (University Medical Centre Groningen)

In this ENBIS-12 Wednesday afternoon course our three Dutch experts will focus on the issue of process improvement in healthcare. In the current debate about the escalating healthcare costs, it is typically assumed that there is a tradeoff between quality and cost of healthcare. This misconception is partly rooted in confusion about the definition of quality. Such misconceptions may impede progress in improving healthcare management and paralyze leadership.

The spotlight in the framework of this course will therefore be on relevant quality management concepts and strategies to improve quality while minimizing costs in healthcare. In practice this should enhance participation and facilitate input from practitioners, which is essential for success of any project in the realm of healthcare.
