ENBIS Spring Meeting 2015

4 – 5 June 2015 Abstract submission: 1 February – 30 April 2015

Travel

Barcelona is easily reachable by plane, train, bus or car. For more information on how to get to Barcelona, check http://meet.barcelona.cat/en/visit-barcelona/how-to-get-to-barcelona

One option to get to the city centre from the airport is taking the Aerobus, which costs 5,90 € (single ticket). You can buy the ticket directly at the Aerobus stop or in the bus. More information: http://www.aerobusbcn.com/en. However, taking a taxi is obviously more comfortable (the price depends on where you go in the city, but it’s about 25-30 €).

Metro, buses and tram are the best way to move around the city. You can buy a T10 travel card in any metro or tram station (not at buses). This card gives you 10 trips, costs 9,95 € and can be used in all public transportation. Another option is buying the Hola BCN! card, a unipersonal card that gives you unlimited trips during 2, 3, 4 or 5 days. More information about public transportation in Barcelona here: http://www.tmb.cat/en

Hotels

Our university has agreements with some hotels so you can get a special price when visiting UPC. You’ll find information on how to book these hotels here.

The list of hotels in Barcelona with special price can be found here.

Please take into account the following:

  • The list of hotels is divided in nearest to Campus Nord, close to university and in the city center. The venue of the Spring Meeting is located not in Campus Nord but in Campus Sud. One is 5 minutes on foot from the other.
  • Residencia RESA Torre Girona is the university residence. Despite the low price, the quality of this accommodation is good (although decoration is somewhat spartan). It’s 10 minutes on foot from a metro station that will get you to the city centre in 20 minutes. It’s located in a residential area of the city, not many shops are available close to the hotel. If you are interested, you should book this accommodation well in advance, as availability is usually scarce.
  • The other hotels in the list under the section “close to university” are in areas with more shops. Some of them are still at a walking distance to the meeting venue (about 15-20 minutes). For others, it’s better using metro, bus or tram.
  • Hotels in the list under section “In the city center” are not at walking distance from university, but the meeting venue can be reached easily by metro in about half an hour.
