Scope

The European Network for Business and Industrial Statistics (ENBIS) was founded in 2000 as a network of people from business, industry and academia from all European nations interested in applying, promoting and facilitating the use of statistics in practice. The network has grown very rapidly as there is a growing awareness of statistics being a powerful tool for the efficient and effective management and operation of modern business and industry. Statistical methods are more important than ever now that the collection of data has become easier and thereby the need for good data-analysis and collection methods has increased. In turn this has caused a sharp increase in the number of people involved in statistics in many disciplines. ENBIS is encouraging such statistical practitioners to meet statisticians from industry and academia to have an exchange of ideas and to learn from each other.

The annual conference of ENBIS is the ideal place to do so. This year´s conference is to be held in Dortmund, Germany from 24 till 26 September 2007. Like the six previous editions of the ENBIS conference, it will again serve as a forum for users of statistics in business and industry and for statisticians to get together, share ideas and network. The event consists of paper presentations, invited talks, keynote lectures, workshops and short courses. The presentations at the conference will cover a broad spectrum of applications and generatediscussions about the use of statistics in a wide range of European business and industrial areas.

The official language for all conference contributions is English. No translation facilities will be available.

ENBIS invites presentations from a wide range of applications: industry, manufacturing, administration, marketing, sales, risk management, logistics and service. Contributions about innovative applications that have made an impact on the overall success of the respective business or industry are especially welcomed. Practitioners from industry and business are invited to present their experiences, problems and current solutions. Topics that, historically, have received much attention at ENBIS conferences are:
