George Box Award and Memorial Session

17 September 2013, 11:40 – 13:00

George Box passed away in March this year, leaving a remarkable legacy for industrial statistics.  He had a keen ability to identify important problems and to develop innovative solutions.  Real problems stimulated theoretical advances which in turn were applied to new problems, a discourse between theory and practice that was a cornerstone of his scientific career. He carried out pathbreaking research in experimental design, quality, time series, and Bayesian statistics. It is indeed fitting that the ENBIS award for research was named in honor of George Box.

In this special session we will remember George Box and his far-reaching influence on industrial statistics; and we will present the 2013 George Box Award.
